A “life” grade card would be nice

Published by dhpotter at 11:21 am under Who I am and where Im from Edit This

As we age, it becomes a habit to look back on where we’ve been and relate it to where we are going. I’m turning 21 soon, and I can’t help but look back to my past to see what I did then and how it is effecting me now.

I know that this holds no relevance to me really, but I look at some of my old friends facebooks and I see they have new pictures with the friends they had in High School. I don’t talk to anyone I used to go to school with really(except Bobby, and another friend Albert) unless I run into them somewhere. This usually doesn’t make me sad, but recently I feel like I may be missing something that those others are not. Then again, I know why I don’t talk to those people anymore, I choose not to.

I have always been the type of girl who moves on well, I adapt to changes better than anyone I know, as long as there is something for me to adapt to; if things are really up in the air and everything is changing constantly, I have a bit of trouble. And I do feel like friends fit into that category. Sometimes people should be a part of your life, they have a purpose, and sometimes you grow out of them. Not something to cry about, not something to get worked up over, its just a part of life.

So here I am, looking back at all the things I’ve left behind, and I do miss some of it. I miss the fun, and I miss the easy-goingness of it all. But I do realise that comes with the age, high school is not the real world, high school is care free compared to this. But I wouldn’t trade my life now for that for anything. It was then, this is now; there is no going back. I also miss being graded. I know that may seem silly, but it was nice to get a status report every so often telling you if you are being successful or not. Now, there is no way to tell if you are on the right track, I just think it would be nice to get graded, so I would have some sort of clue what I’m doing.
